Q: How much does a rescue dog from PDRC cost?
A: It depends on the dog, but on average the adoption fee is $300. The adoption fee helps cover our costs for caring for each dog from the time they enter our rescue to the time of adoption.
Q: Why does PDRC ask so many detailed questions? I'm just trying to save a dog and it seems like PDRC makes it difficult for me to adopt one.
A: We take in dogs that are either strays or surrenders from people who can no longer look after them. Sometimes the reasons are simply because they didn't know enough about the requirements of these breeds before they brought one into their lives. We want to make sure we do everything we can to place dogs with families who understand the needs of their new family member. Check out this article, which explains a little more why we are so thorough.
Q: I really like a dog that PDRC has for adoption but the dog is really far away from me. Can I still apply to adopt the dog?
A: Yes! If the fit is right between the dog and applicant, we can arrange transport and have a number of options to make that happen.
Q: Does PDRC rescue dogs from the U.S.?
A: We wish we could rescue dogs from all over the world, but it simply isn't realistic. For this reason, we maximize our resources by focusing on rescuing dogs in Canada.
Q: I live in the U.S. and I am really interested in adopting a dog from PDRC. Am I eligible?
A: Absolutely! If you are the right fit for a dog, we have no problem adopting him or her to a family in the U.S. Please fill out an application here.
